Big Band of Boom

‘Big Bad Voodoo’ stylised music video

For their first ever music video, Tom and co. wanted a high energy, high quality music video that would do these amazing performers justice. I was involved with quite short notice after Josh recommended me to Tom after a last-minute decision on Tom’s part not to film it himself (a decision that he was very happy about making following the project’s completion!).
It was a short and efficient shoot with filming only lasting around five or six hours (including a pizza break!) whilst producing 14 full track takes plus BTS stills, a great band portrait and a few extra bits and pieces.
We had a great little production team and everything just went really well.
All but one of the angles was taken using my gimbal system for smooth, cinematic pans, slides, tracking and crane shots, with the remaining angle (looking at the front of the truck) being done on an actual jib for smooth 3m+ vertical crane moves. Wireless monitoring of my camera was supplied to Will, the lighting tech, so he could monitor the smoke level as the camera sees it in real time.
The video practically edited itself, as every take was just full of great moments to choose from.
We were all very happy with the final video and I have had the pleasure of working with these great folks on several occasions since.
